Arizona’s only PRIVATE OB/GYN abortion provider

Mirena® is one of the most effective forms of reversible birth control—99.9% effective, with only about 1 in 1,000 women becoming pregnant while using it!

In the first year, Mirena® is about ten times more effective than the copper IUD and usually causes fewer and milder side effects. It also contains the lowest amount of circulating hormones of any hormonal birth control, and it does not cause weight gain.

Mirena® starts working right away—no waiting period or need for backup protection. It can even be used as emergency contraception up to five days after unprotected sex, with a pregnancy rate of less than 1 in 700.

About 80% of women experience much lighter periods, and many stop having periods altogether within a few months. Plus, it’s FDA-approved for up to eight years!

MIRENA® IUD

MIRENA® IUD

What is it?

It is immediately reversible and usually takes only seconds to remove. The removal process is virtually painless and can literally be done with a well woman exam. 1 in 8 women become pregnant on the first cycle after removal and 1 in 2 women (50%) are pregnant within 3 months!

Because we are a private Ob/Gyn office, we are often able to accept insurance to pay for the cost of contraception such as Mirena® IUD, which can be placed at the time of your procedure, within 2 weeks of your procedure, or at your follow-up visit from the early option pill. If you do not have insurance the cost of the IUD is significantly lower than almost anywhere else and is all-inclusive (Mirena®, insertion, follow-up, and well-woman exam!).

Does an IUD help with heavy periods?
What is the process for getting an IUD?

Mirena® is inserted in the uterus by your healthcare provider

Mirena® is a non-surgical procedure and can be placed during an in-office visit or immediately after giving birth.

After placement, your healthcare provider will show you how to perform a monthly thread check to ensure Mirena is still in your uterus.

After 4–6 weeks, you should return for a follow-up visit.

Mirena® rapidly reduces heavy periods. In a clinical trial of Mirena® in women with heavy periods, the majority experienced an 80% reduction after three months, and 90% after six months.

Is an IUD reversible?

Mirena® is reversible any time in case your plans change. Once your healthcare provider removes Mirena®, you can try to get pregnant right away.
